simple canvas

I have tons of scrap fabric and Ive seen other things on pinterest like this one by making a canvas of your own. I used the top of a shoe box and covered it with a felt-like fabric.

Then added a few pictures..

And hung it up in my sons room :)

sweater sleeves to leg warmers

I was looking in the "church clothes" section of my closet (which I never use by the way)
and I came across this brown crocheted sweater which I will NEVER wear. Just not my style.
so I thought LEG WARMERS. I cut off the sleves and used fabric sissors to do so, much more even cut and wil prevent "fabric rolling."
So After cutting the sleeves off I also cut off the buttons down the front. There were 4.
I measured the warmers accordingly then slit a line down where it would lie on the side of your leg. Dont know if that makes sence but you know what I mean .....
I then hand sewed two buttons vertical  to one another on the left side of the slit. Do so for each one, then cut two tiny slits on the opposite side for the button to slide through.

not bad not bad. and theyll keep my legs warm in this freezing weather. Ill deff. be making another, better, pair of these soon!

DIY christmas project

So I've been thinking of a very simple chrismas craft for me and my one and a half year old to do. Something not too messy, not too complicated, or not something that would take a long time due to him barely being able to sit in one place for longer than 3 minutes. HA.
I went into michaels and was looking at christmas stuff and seen these blank ornaments marked at 1.69 a piece but were on sale for 50% off. um, score. I only bought one because I wanted to make sure this wouldnt be a big fail. I poured some red paint onto a plate and used a sponge brush and painted it onto my sons hand. While holding the other one down and trying to keep it from his mouth.. I then handed him the ornament and he grabbed it like he would grabbed a ball so the handprint went on perfectly! Add some glitter with glue and write whatever you desire on the back. Theres so many ideas that can be done with this simple glass ornament. Cant wait for christmas!

turning the back of a shirt to lace

So my mother in law let me borrow her sewing machine and I need to share this expierence, and if you are a sewer youll completely understand. So she brought me her sewing machine and threaded it for me and everything, didnt show me how to threat both needles just did it for me. Showed me some stitches on a practice piece of scrap. You know basic sewing stuff. So then she left and im attempting to sew on my own...bobbin keeps falling out all the strings kept getting tangeled ive been working with this sewing machine for 3 days now and have STILL not accomplished any sewing project. I even replaced the needle. So anyway, I ended up HAND sewing this because I already bought the material and I wasnt gunna let it get wasted by this worthless sewing machine that was NOT being compliant with me. Heres a short tutorial on how I did this one
First I cut the back of the shirt off like this.
so only the front of the shirt is left to work with. I then laid the lace material (got at walmart for 4.99 a yard but I only used a half a yard or less) behind the backing of the shirt that I cut off and SAVED..
that is the back part of the shirt ^
Then I cut the lace around kinda like tracing it.
I sewed the "back lace" onto the front and sewed it like it would be inside out and then trimmed all the string up at the end flipped it right side out and wa laaaaa..

Monday morning craft: Toddler motor skills toy DIY

I always see all these moms posting on pinterest "twenty things to do with your toddler" or "ways to distract a toddler." I discovered this womans blog who specialized in these type of things and I ended up reading A LOT of her stuff. I seen this project on her website and decided to give it a try, as my son loves to practice his motor and development skills ;).

What youll need
  1. Wrapping paper of your choice
  2. An empty container you could use a pringles one etc. (I used a container that dry bread crumbs came in) you get the idea...
  3. Large bottle caps. Gatoraid bottles, vitamin waters, etc.
  4. Stickers for decoration
  5. Tape
  6. Knife or sissors
Okay so first I washed the bottle caps and container really well with soap and let dry.(figuring that my 15 month old will taste every piece) Next, I cut wrapping paper to the size of the container and taped one side underneath and overlapped the other side and taped together so you get this,

Now take the plastic lid that the container comes with and cut a hole in the top that each bottle cap can fit through. Decorate the bottle caps with stickers put the cap on the container and let your little one get to work!

glitter jar!

It's sunday and I was typically looking for something to "glitter-fy" today. I went searching down in the basement to find this little plain clear glass jar. Heres what you'll need: loose glitter, a jar, elmers glue, water, and a thick painting tool(like a styrafoam brush).

Mix together on a plate 50/50 mix of water and elmers glue. Use the styrafoam brush to mix it up then brush it onto the jar and sprinkle glitter immediately. Do one side at a time. Once finished let dry for 10 minutes and go over the whole jar with more of the water/elmers glue mix to seal.

another pinterest t shirt cut up

I really liked the idea of this one in the back. All you do is fold the shirt in half the opposite way of which it would lay, like this..
You get the idea. I also cut the neck so it kind of hangs on my shoulders. Yay for cutting up tee shirts ;)

Cream cheese wontons. Baked not fried!

For some reason I was craving cream cheese wontons all day and I remembered that I have a half a container of wonton wrappers from my previous recipe the mini wonton tacos. This is too easy and im guessing way healthier than those deep fried ones from panda express.
-wonton wrappers
-muffin tin
-bowl of water
-cream cheese (I used weight watchers reduced fat)
-pam cooking spray

Pre heat your oven to 325 degrees. Scoop a dab of cream cheese into each wrapper and then put your fingers into the bowl of water and wipe along edges. This works as a "glue". Push all the edges together to make the wonton shape. Pop them in the oven for about 8 minutes or untill the edges are a golden brown. Serve with sweet & sour sauce :)

magnetic make up board!

Im so so so excited for this one! Ive been wanting to make this for quite some time now and I finally remembered to get the stuff i need for it. I dont know if you can tell in the picture but I pained the outer edge black (got the paint at walmart for 89 cents) and used some loose purple glitter that I got at dollar tree (it came with 5 other colors so thats a AWESOME deal) and then I purchased magnet strips from walmart (89 cents as well) oh yeah I forgot to mention i bought the cookie sheet at dollar tree too. So I made this for under 5 dollars. The magnetic strips come with sticky stuff on the back so I only used those on the light items like eyeshadows. The heavier items i had to hot glue gun them to the back. Most of my makeup never leaves the house with me so im okay with it having a magnet glued to the back. This will be so much more convient than my cluttered make up bag!

sunday project: ROCK MAGNETS

I like to get all kinds of crafty on sundays, it makes me feel like I did something productive. So I did this. I was looking at magnets for the fridge for my son but I thought this could be a diy project and this is what I came up with. rock magnets! I cleaned and dried rocks and used a sharpie to write each letter. Then, I used my hot glue gun to glue magnets to the back and there you go,
Now im just hoping my son plays with them instead of eat them. Happy Sunday :)

Todays lunch: pizza roll ups!

So easy i dont even feel the need to post directions. yummy easy lunch. I dipped mine in ranch dressing, yum!

Wonton mini tacos recipe from muffin tin

Do you ever get tired of the same old taco recipe? I sure do. I love tacos dont get me wrong but after eating them for 21 years of life i was getting pretty tired of them untill this. These are mini tacos in wonton wrappers which save you a ton of greasy fat & calories!
I got the wonton wrappers at walmart for about 3 dollars but you get a TON of them and ill be using them for other recipes.

Prepare meat as usual, in the meantime pre heat the oven to the tempurature on the wonton package (mine said 425 degrees.) As the meat is cooking use egg white to brush onto each individual wonton wrapper and then push into muffin pan leaving the middle to fill with taco filling. Drain meat and return to pan and mix with seaoning. Now take the meat and scoop it into each individual wrapper. bake for about 8 minutes or untill the edges of the wrapper are golden brown. Take out and add toppings of your choice. They were so good ill deffinantly be doing this again.

DIY cleaner

So they say that the best moms have dirty floors & messy counters, which is extremely true in this case. My whole kitchen consist of tile on all the counters. I usually buy a spray bottle of some kind of cleaner to clean the counter with but today I tried this lovely combination. Simple green, distilled white vinegar, water, and some lemon peels (for smell). I mixed these all into a spray bottle and seriously this is the greatest cleaner ever it does have somewhat of a strong smell but i have tons of windows in my kitchen so it airs out quickly. I had to use a sponge on some tough spots but boy are my counters clean!

Frozen yogurt bites from yoplait yogurt!

So I always buy my son the Gerber brand yogurt bites and i was trying to find a way to make my own and make them better on top of that so me & him BOTH could eat them. I seen this idea on pinterest, once again, and decided to give it a try.
Youll need:
  • one container of yoplait yogurt, your choice, I used orange cream.
  • a plastic bag
  • a cup
  • siccors
  • a metal pan
So first youll need to take the cup and line it with the plastic bag
Next, fill the cup lined with plastic with the yogurt of your choice. Take the plastic bag out and cut a TINY corner of the tip of the bag so you can squeez it out to make the dots.
Put in the freezer for 1 hour and enjoy. Eat them fast they'll melt quickly on a hot day!

bbq chicken pizza

This is another EASY EASY dinner. I bought the pizza crust from walmart it was about 3$ i used sweet baby rays bbq sauce (my favorite) and i cut up some fresh pineapple to put on half. I also used motzerella and parmesan cheese. Pretty self explanitory. It was really good between my son(hes 1), my husband and I there was only one piece left. Perfect for a weekend night or just a lazy dinner night :)

Bacon hearts for valentines day breakfast

Seriously this is the best idea ever.
So simple and turns out so cute, just cook bacon on a griddle in this heart shape untill its almost hard and flip to opposite side. Serve on the side of over easy eggs and potatos maybe?

3 ingredient bbq pulled chicken sandwiches!

Ive always loved bbq sandwiches from restuarants I was trying to figure out a way to replicate one and let me tell you, im so pleased with the results and so is the rest of the family! Youll need a crockpot for this one.
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast
  • lowrys seasoning salt
  • 1 cup of your favorite bbq sauce (i used sweet baby rays)
Put the chicken into the crockpot at least 6 hours ahead of time. I put mine in around 1 pm and they were done and ready for shredding by 630. Once in the crockpot use a cooking brush to rub on bbq sauce and then cover with the lowrys seasing. let cook. once its finished use a fork or some kind of utensil to shred. I used a fork and a small clamp to grip the chicken good. The chicken should fall apart no problem. Place into a big bowl and mix in 1 cup of bbq sauce. I used hogie buns and served with baked beans and baked potato. YUM :)

DIY brush cleaner.

I discovered this make up brush cleaner DIY on pinterest and was really suprised at how well it worked. I used 70% alcohol instead of the regular 100% because alcohol is known to dry the bristles out on the brushes so i figured using a lower percentage would help that. i mixed a 2 to 1 ratio of alcohol and baby shampoo. Soak your brushes in the mixture for about 10 minutes. When that time is up start swirling the brushes around then rinse with water

Leave dry overnight
SEE THE DIFFERENCE!

Adult spin the bottle

At first this looks a little intimidating but let me explain. Each shot is filled with something, some are water some are punch some are tequila. Start on one person and go to the left with each person spinning the bottle and drinking their shot. make sure no one knows which shot is which. Id mix this up a little by doing mixed shots too. Seems like a fun idea to get everyone involved at a gathering or party!

Easy make-up remover!

Ive always used baby oil to remove make up but i discovered this WONDERFUL,cheap, easy new way to take off make up including my old baby oil technique. what youll need:
  • Empty bottle of some kind that can despense liquid
  • Baby oil
  • baby shampoo or body wash thats tearless
  • water
mix 2 oz of baby oil, 1 oz of baby shampoo, and 2 oz of water.
shake before each use, enjoy :)
